UK Bounce, also known as Scouse House, Donk, Bounce NRG, or simply Bounce, is a high-energy style of electronic dance music that emerged in the North West of England during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The genre developed from UK hard house, Dutch pumping house, hard trance, and happy hardcore, eventually becoming one of the defining underground sounds of cities such as Liverpool, Wigan, Blackpool, Bolton, and Manchester. Although the names "Scouse House", "Donk", and "UK Bounce" are sometimes used interchangeably, they often describe different periods or variations of the same musical movement.
