Stasiun ini bernaung di bawah Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo Semarang. Sebagai radio komunitas, MBS FM memiliki jangkauan siaran yang terbatas, namun berfokus pada penyiaran konten yang berkaitan dengan agama, sosial, kesehatan, dan budaya. Selain itu, MBS FM telah mengembangkan aplikasi berbasis Android untuk memperluas akses pendengar terhadap siarannya. Dengan demikian, Radio MBS FM berperan sebagai media dakwah dan edukasi bagi komunitasnya, khususnya di lingkungan UIN Walisongo Semarang.
