Cumhuriyetin ilanından sonra 1925 yılında "Telsiz tesisi hakkında kanun" adıyla bir yasa çıkarılarak ülke genelinde bir telsiz şebekesi kurulmasına karar verildi. Bu amaçla açılan ihale sonucu bir Fransız şirketi telsiz şebekesini yani radyo vericisi kurma işlemini üstlendi. Fransız şirketi 1925 yılında Ankara ve İstanbul'da çalışmalarına başladı. Telsiz vericilerinin inşaatı sürerken radyo yayınının nasıl yapılacağı bilinmiyordu. Bunun için ilk çalışmaları İleri gazetesinin sahibi Sedat Nuri Bey başlattı. Sedat Bey bunun için bir şirket kurdu. 1926 yılında vericilerin yapım işlemi tamamlandığında radyonun kuruluş çalışmaları da başlamıştı.
