Radio Reloncaví fue fundada en Puerto Montt por René Salinas, quien adquirió la concesión de la radio tras la no renovación de la de la radio cooperativa en 1978. La estación fue organizada por la familia Salinas y se convirtió en una de las radios más queridas del sur de Chile, transmitiendo con una potencia de 10,000 vatios en AM. Su programación incluía noticias, música y deportes, y se la conocía por su cercanía con la audiencia.
